Just for you “Super N”

I wrote this post about 2 weeks ago and before I posted it I decided that I just had to makeover my blog, don't ask me why. But if you read my blog and remember the whole issue I have with buying baby bedding, well maybe then you'll understand that sometimes I just think I have to do things and well that's what has to be done before I can move on haha. So enjoy this old/new update haha!

Well one of my friends kindly pointed out that it has been way to long since I blogged so here I go. I guess I will just jump right on in so who knows where this post may take me.

One of the biggest things that has happened lately is that we moved! Yup somehow in between raising 4 kids we found the time to list and show our house, pack up and move and unpack! (Don’t let that last word fool you heehee we are not close to being fully unpacked but right now we have done as much as we can. (Its been just a little over a month.) The new house is great, is is 2,010 square feet (vs our old one at 1640 where a lot of that came from our huge master bedroom) and the living room is so nice and big. The only drawback is that the kitchen is smaller which has been hard to adjust to but our last kitchen was unusually big so its honestly not too bad.

The person who bought the house before us must have caught it at framing stage because although the house was intended to be a 4 bedroom up, they decided to not put in one wall and extend the master bedroom making it a three up. Since we were looking for a 4 bedroom up specifically we decided to renovate and turn the big master back into 2 rooms so the three little ones could all have their own rooms. This process was kind of a pain in the butt but its all done now except for flooring, we are trying to match the carpet in that new room as best as we can to the old stuff. This new room will be jackson’s. There is also a nice big bedroom in the basement with its own ensuite and that is Kelsey’s room, talk about lucky girl!!

The street seems really nice and quiet and we are just a street over from a great park and we are just a few minutes away from all shopping too so it’s very convenient. (It’s also close to my friend Super-N so that’s a plus heehee.)

Our little Maddy is growing like a weed but is still nonetheless afraid of everything in sight. I am loving her little sentences she seems to be stringing together with ease and the cute way she is trying to start to sing now! Her tantrums are also out of this world but hey, she’s 2 now so what can you expect eh? Heehee! Her favorite outside activity…blowing bubbles and now that dad has taken the big scary door off her cute playhouse she is happy to be back playing in there too. She’s even ringing the doorbell she was previously afraid of thanks to her friend Sarah!

Jackson and Jae are growing for sure! Jae was 18 pounds 10 ounces about 2 weeks ago and Jackson was an even 18. These little guys are such cuties but are no shortage of work for their momma and dad! Jackson has been very very sick twice so far this year, once at easter and the next time right before may long weekend (right before our big move ugh!). The first time it was vomiting for a week, nothing stayed down and he ended up admitted to the hospital for 2 days for iv fluids. :(  This was so hard and to compound things we were put in isolation so it was a rough stay. The nurses were adamant that he smelled like a rota virus baby and when we were discharged we were led to believe that is what he had (even though they said the test results weren’t written in his charts). After mother’s day maddy started vomiting which lasted for about a week of sickness for her too and yup you guessed it jackson got it next. This time it was eerily similar except he had a fever too. we took him to the ER twice and found out that although it wasn’t rota last time it was this time. So needless to say everytime he vomits we look at eachother and cringe thinking here we go again! Hopefully he is out of the woods for this season and next year he is 1st in line for the flu shot!!! Oh and after all the sleeping issues we had with him (ie screaming himself to sleep) we started him on zantac for reflux and it stopped after only a few days and he falls asleep as normally as babies do now. ;)

Jae oddly enough never actually got sick either of those times, she only finished about half of her bottles and was quieter than normal but otherwise she seemed ok. BUT she has issues all her own. This little chubby bunny still won’t/can’t eat solids yet at 10 months!! She seems to have a reaction to rice and oats which sounds a lot like FPIES to me since it is not a usual allergic reaction. We started seeing a pediatrician and had rast testing (a type of allergy testing) done only to have the results come back negative (although the doc said it might just not show up). This in itself was a huge undertaking as Jae is quite chubby no one could draw blood from her. We tried on 2 occasions and ended up having to meet the ped at the hospital to get an arterial draw done. Poor baby girl!!! Her arms were black and blue for a month! The ped has never heard of FPIES so he really hasn’t listened to me in that area yet although her symptoms fit it to a T, but he did hear of another condition called Eosinophilic Esophagitis which to me seems actually scarier than FPIES so I am hoping that is not what it is but at this point it would be nice to just know. So tomorrow we have a barium swallow for my little babe, if it is EE they can sometimes see rings in the esophagus which can lead them to further testing. I am worried she won’t drink the barium (afterall why would she since she won’t eat anything other than drink her formula) and they will end up having to give it to her via a feeding tube but we will just have to wait and see. (Update on this: her barium swallow went fine, no issues with her esophagus so now we are back to square one with her.)

Jae also has other issues, despite the fact that she should be able to eat other things than rice and oats etc (meaning she doesn’t present any reaction to some other foods) she simply will not take them. She clams right up when she sees the spoon and if you do happen to get any food in her she will gag and wretch and end up vomiting. So this little girl is just giving us a run for our money food wise. We also have an appointment for an occupational therapist in feeding next week to see if this area could be due to texture/sensory issues.  (Update on this: what I thought was a feeding appointment actually was only a dietician, yeah many joys on finding that out, pretty much a waste of time.)

Well I think that is enough for now, phew I am tired just typing at all out. So do I get a pass on blogging now that you know all of what we have been dealing with for the past few months? Hahahahaha! I hope to start blogging more regularly soon.

She looks like she is going to eat the parrot! ROTFLMBO!!!

Mr handsome smiling man! Don’t let the pictures fool you, this boy has 2 speeds…happy and smiley and hysterically mad haha. But when he’s cute he’s so dang cute!

And last but certainly not least, my miss maddy girl. oh what a beauty and ball of fire this one is! I LOVE those curls, her hair is actually quite far past her shoulders in the bath, its’ just that curly. ;)

This is Mads at HER park cuz she is such a fraidy cat and hates anything new, we tried to take her to a newer bigger awesome park and she ran for the van after only a few minutes there. This is the park and when you say you are going to the park it better be this park, HER park or else its not the park and thus it is scary hahaha, oh my little neurotic girl! ♥

Hopefully I can get back into blogging again soon, just been beyond busy!

Wow been way too long

Its been way too long since I updated this ole blog, I know I have been neglecting it but I just couldn’t bring myself to blog. Guess I haven’t been feeling especially witty for a while. Having 3 kids 21 months and under is hard, more than hard, its excruciatingly and painfully hard. Some day I will write a post on it, no holds barred.  I know how lucky we are to have such happy healthy children and I love each and every one of them with my life but that doesn’t mean I struggle any less.  7 months in and counting……

Here’s to hoping I can start to get back into blogging, if only to record all those funny, irritating, crazy, firsts and insane moments that are our life.

Irony

Well since I haven’t posted in a while I figured that instead of posting this as my facebook status (ok you caught me instead of posting all of this as my FB status) I’d write it here to let you all know we are still alive haha.

I have 4 books in my wishlist at chapters, one of them is Healthy Sleep Habit Happy Twins…cuz you know with 5 month old  twinfants and a 20 month old I REALLY have time to read about how to get more time to read, thus the title of this post. ;)

I also thought that Chicken Soup for the Soul: Twins and More might be an interesting read, but alas reading for fun is relegated to the 20 minute bath I get once every 4 days, at that pace it would take years to get through it and I already have 2 books that my wonderful hubby bought me waiting to be read first, sigh.

Now THIS book, It Sucked and Then I Cried: How I had a Baby, A Breakdown and a Much Needed Margarita,  I just might make time for,  (heck I just may leave the house with all 4 kids in tow just to buy it today!) substitute her baby for twins and I bet you’d have our life hahahaha although I don’t really know since I haven’t read it yet. ;)

And last but certainly not least is The Pioneer Woman Cooks, heaven on a plate I tell you! I LOVE her recipes and wit and her photos are amazing. I used to read her blog a lot but now I have to try to do it while nursing one of the babes and surfing on my netbook with my other hand. Speaking of which, it is fast becoming an extinct art as the babies have decided they love to stop eating and stare at the magic box with all the colors and fanciness. ;)

There, now that you all know what I am dying to read I bet you can sleep better at night, now if only I’d buy that stinkin books and read it maybe the twins would! Bwahahahahaha!!! ;)

Thank You

Maddy was being such a ham the other night, as always. She decided it was fun to go back and forth bringing daddy and sissy books and then taking them back. She said thank you for the first time this night and it was terribly cute!

She says soooo many words now its amazing and adorable! Here is a small clip of her hour long “thank you book escapade” heehee. Oh and at one point in time she says “one” while picking up the books, daddy taught her “one, two” last weekend…too cute!

I love the way she says “no” now, I wish I could get it on camera. (She didn’t realize I was doing this last night or I’m sure she would have stopped and wanted to play with it haha.) When she hears the babies crying she says “uh-oh babies”, she also knows what their bumbos are (and loves to try and sit in them). She says suckie which is what we call her pacifier although it used to be guckie (I miss guckie haha). She says hat, circle, apple, horsy, santa, snowman (noman) and so many others I can’t even remember them all. Oh and the big one, help which sounds like elp, no more whining since we taught her elp haha, ahhhhhh much better! She also says K now right after she says help, that one came from her asking me for help and me responding with K, she is so funny answering herself! She also says nack which is snack, being mommas girl (loving her food) she will even go to the pantry door and bang on it and ask for a nack haha. Or she will keep coming to you with her snack cup 3 times after dinner asking for another nack. Man she cracks us up! Well I gotta run and get the morning routine started but enjoy and thank you heehee. ;)

A tale of 2 babies

Jae is a spitfire like Maddy, trouble all the way! She was the troublemaker in the womb too so it’s no surprise. Jackson is just how I pictured him from his personality in the womb too interestingly enough, laid back, quiet and sweet.

Jae does not like to nap, she does not like to do much of anything but be cuddled and held and sometimes play, she is a little stinker but ohhh sooo cute, her saving grace heehee. Crazy enough she fights her naps all day but is an absolute angel to put to bed at night (must be too exhausted by then hahaha). She is usually asleep within 1 minute of laying her down in the crib (thankfully!).

Jackson on the other hand, who is by all accounts an angel all day and naps almost as soon as you put him in his swing, is a horror to put to bed at night. Ok not really a horror ;)  but he can cry and fuss for up to 45 minutes at times before he falls asleep. It’s like they switch personalities at about 9 pm at night, seriously. It’s sooo weird hahaha!

Jae loves to chew things and grab onto things, Jackson usually sits there with his little hands folded and likes to look at things vs play with them.  They are such a funny pair.  Jae does well sitting up in her bumbo and jumperoo, Jackson however is still quite wobbly in his bumbo many times listing to the side (with his little hands still folded heehee) man he is cute!

The other day Jackson had already been put down for his nap and Jae was going to follow soon, I was just giving her a bit more time to play when I noticed things had gotten very quiet. This is the 2nd time she has started to fall asleep in her bumbo only this time she did so with her favorite toy in her mouth. Thought it was cute (especially given her general fondness for naps ya know heehee) so I had to get it on video.

Enjoy!

By the skin of our teeth

is how I’ve been describing things lately, seems to describe things nicely since teeth don’t have skin. Wanna know what I did tonight? Well actually why don’t I make a list of a few of the dumb things have sadly started to feel like second nature lately.

Tonight I changed Jae’s diaper, came out to the living room and wondered why her sleeper and my shirt were wet…….I forgot to put a new diaper back on, didn’t even put the old one back on either. Just did up her sleeper naked and all and didn’t even notice.  WOW!

The other day I was makin chili and could not for the life of me get the automatic can opener to work. It was just working on the previous 2 cans! I tried about 10 times before getting mad and digging through the drawer for the hand can opener, still no friggin luck ugh! So I dug some more and whad’ya know the can openers were staging a revolt! That was at least what I thought until I realized I had been trying to open the can upside down. I say again…WOW!

As hubby will tell you I am a McDonalds addict, more accurately on days when I leave the house I don’t have time to make lunch when I get home before all 3 kids are screaming from hunger so we usually get McD’s on the way home for Maddy and I. Maddy always gets a happy meal with a milk. Since I have too much to carry into the house I always put her little milk carton in my purse. Now since I always do that you would think I’d remember to take it out of said purse wouldn’t you?! Wrong!  There’s something sad about saying “I have go to stop putting milk in my purse”. WOW!

Oh and did you know that your sugar container is NOT your coffee cup? Apparently I didn’t get that memo either.

There’s more but I’m tired and I’ll save that for later wouldn’t want y’all to bust a gut laughing too hard.

Of all the things I’ve lost I miss my mind the most. (And time to pee and change my underwear but that’s a different story!)

Happy 4 months babies!

I can’t believe you are 4 months today! We love you both so very much!!!

Transitioning to the crib

I should preface this by saying that Maddy slept in her bassinet til she was like 6 to 8 months, yeah way too long but I am a total suck what can I say. ;) When the twins came home we tried the crib the first night (in our room) and they hated it, although they hated everything that first night home, somehow they ended up in the bassinet side by side and there they have stayed ever since…they will be 4 months tomorrow.

So while hubby is off on vacation we decided to try to transition them to their crib finally, you know…before they fall through the bottom of the bassinet due to their combined weight and break some of their cute little body parts that I would miss too much. If the bassinet was rated for their weight you know they’d still be in there haha! So we tried the night before last night, it was a miserable failure! Mr Jackson hated it and cried most of the night off and on and as in true fashion when he finally stopped towards the early morning Miss Jae started up. Wow we were seriously lacking sleep yesterday and so were the babes. Now you would think that would make for a great day in which they would catch up on their missing sleep but that was not the case. It was a horrible day and seriously had us scrambling for ideas on how to make them more cozy in their new home.

So Maddy and I went out shopping to try and find some stuff to make the twins, once again, snug as two bugs in 1 rug (did you like that? heehee, cuz seriously you almost needed a shoehorn to get them outta the bassinet.)

Off we went to walmart, I seriously hate this store and have been trying not to go there lately, it’s a long story and someday I’ll fill you all in on my love hate relationship that is wally-world but for now I need to stay on topic. ;) $50 later I bought one of these thinking we could lay it in the crib and they could still be snug as a bug in 1 rug (i’m gonna wear out the cuteness on that if I keep saying that aren’t I?).  The 2 of them actually did fit in there side by side…ahem snug-ly.

cosleeper

We didn’t use it and it’s going back today.

I was also looking for a bumper pad for the crib to help make them feel more secure and I thought I had seen them sold separately but no such luck. I searched the mall and they only came in bedding sets, so what’s a mom to do? Buy a bedding set of course! Now to most moms this would be thrilling but to me this is a choice that will shape the entire personality and life of the new baby, this is not something to be taken lightly if it will shape their whole future…no? you don’t think so? Well I don’t actually either but you would think I did by how much thought and indecisiveness goes into making a purchase like this for me, ugh I’m slightly on a tangent here.

Anyway, we needed a bumper pad and so I had to make my decision and fast. No internet shopping for the perfect set and waiting for it to arrive, no browsing through the catalog and getting it just right, nope just buy it now and take it home which in this town (especially when you’re me) is next to impossible.

While I was at Sears I had seen a boy set there that I liked before, sure enough it was still there, they had one left. I grabbed it, put it back, grabbed it, put it back and then decided to take a picture of it and the others so I cold go home empty handed and make my hubby help me decide. (poor man!) I made it a few hundred feet away and decided to just throw caution to the wind, to heck with it, make my hubby proud…I’d just BUY IT, cue the music! So I turned around, scooped it up and took it to the register. (I did of course ask if they had the matching mobile, they didn’t darn it, but I found one on ebay, my life is now complete hahaha!) So here is a terrible picture of what it looks like.  It really is cute in person and the cars and planes are pieced together out of felt. (It was a great buy too!)

tyler crib

For now the 2 of them will sleep in one crib so that leaves me with a few more months to find “just the right set” for Jae rofl *wink *.

I really do like this set, although that didn’t stop me from second guessing it when I got home and showed it to hubby. By then I had realized that I could probably borrow a bumper pad from a friend and take our time ordering the perfect set online, he convinced me it was just right for our little man…see why I need him?! HAHA!

Update: I started writing this post a few days ago and just finished it today. I am happy to say that after all of the hulabaloo over bedding and making their crib cozy with their new diggs they decided they liked it yay! It was only one awful night and I am so proud of them for moving to their big bed. :) Now what do I do with the used moses basket we bought to fit in the crib rofl?!

Twin Moments

Last night hubby and I were each holding a baby, we stood in front of eachother and they actually seemed to really see eachother for the first time! They each smiled and started cooing to eachother, it made our hearts melt amidst the chaos! Thank god for these moments. ;)

Santa Pics

As you can tell my the radio silence (to say things have been busy around here is a huge understatement! ;) I will be working on a few posts for you all with recaps of Christmas and such but here are a few pics of the kids with Santa to tide you over (is that how you spell and say that? seriously I would hate to be one of those people who says stuff like “for all intensive purposes” rotflmbo! Oh well if I’m wrong I can blame it on the fact that my kids have sucked my brain away heehee!)

Maddy loves Santa, until she meets him in person that is, what a little cutie!

Mommy and Santa or “tanta” as Mads would say, trying to bribe her with a candy cane and coloring book…didn’t work haha. Well since she isn’t freaking out still I guess I should say it worked a little bit now shouldn’t I?

Trick photography as suggested by Mrs Santa, she’s actually sitting on my knee but it looks like she’s sitting with Santa. ;)

And here are the twins aka Mr and Mrs Clause. Adorable!

These are probably the best pictures of Christmas, no family photo this year as all the kids were sick except Kelsey and we literally had to run out after Christmas dinner due to a frantically screaming child, ironically that’s how we started Christmas dinner hahahaha! Hopefully more to come soon and since it’s new years day Happy New Year to all my friends and family, I hope 2010 brings you more than you could ever want!
