This is my life…

sitting on the couch feeding baby jack

baby jae is still in bed, she’s crying now but i can’t get to her (i hate that!)

maddy is pulling the barrette out of her hair and sticking it in her mouth, i try to get her to bring it to me (cuz i’m still feeding baby jack) but she won’t…she just pretends to dip it in some dip and stick it back in her mouth and say mmmmmmmm with a smile (this is what she does now when eating or drinking)

baby jae still crying

baby jack is done-ish

get up to burp baby jack and see what maddy is doing at the end of the couch so quietly

hmmm she’s sitting smack on top of the dog!|(poor nelly)

baby jack is changed and in his bouncy

baby jae is now feeding

maddy is at the end of the couch out of sight again wonder which dog she is sitting on now

baby jae is needing to be burped and changed

now that i stand up i see mads is yet again sitting on nelly poor nelly

baby jae spits up all down the back of me and the hallway floor

change jae and return for second part of feed

maddy is now sitting on the corner of the dog bed, playing with her toys…good or at least better than sitting on the dog

continue feeding jae

maddy decides to be good and come stand by mommy, much better…ok maybe not, now she’s coming after the netbook

close netbook and put out of reach

finish feeding jae

burp jae

maddy sits on my leg and bounces trying to ride it like a horsey, maddy be careful be very careful

finish

put jae in bouncer

pour more coffee

deep breaths deep breaths…patience is a necessity

repeat every 3 to 4 hours

I love my kids

my days however are a crazy chaotic mess ROTFLMBO!!!!

No clever title ;)

Well I just thought I'd pop in and say again, yes we are still alive! Things are super busy around here as I'm sure you all can imagine. The babies were 7 weeks old yesterday! I cannot believe it! On the one hand it seems like just yesterday but on the other hand it feels like they've been here forever! These little ones are sure hard work but little sweeties. They also have very different and distinct peronalities.

Jackson is our laid back little fella, he has his moments but overall is pretty good. He is my sweet little man! He is the one who is usually wailing on the way home from the store for lunch, we should have called him (starvin) Marvin. I think it's sooo cute how his hands and feet are so much bigger than his sisters. Having never had a boy it's kinda cool to see the differences like that. He's also my spit-up boy and has had a few moments of projectile vomiting from his chair. He's a noisy little sleeper and it seems like he's taught his sis to be so as well. They are both always grunting and groaning awake or asleep.

And Jae, she is the more spirited little one ;) shall we say. She usually has something to say and boy she'll let you know. Her feet are super tiny like Maddy's were (her feet didn't really grow til right when the twins were born and then they really grew skipping a size!) I have a feeling Jae will be the same. She has the sweetest little looks and I just love how she purses her little lips and looks at you with her certain look. She's pretty cute! She keeps us on our toes for sure, a lot like Maddy did. She actually reminds me a lot of Maddy.

They both have a fussy time that can start anywhere from 5:30 pm and it usually lasts til their last feed at around 10:30. Thankfully they usually calm down if they are held so we all play hot potato with the babies and Maddy in the evenings. ;) It's exhausting but it could be worse for sure! (I seem to remember a little girl who liked to scream during those same hours each night heehee.)

This is all very very very hard work, there are days I feel like sobbing but for the most part I keep focusing on how proud of myself I am that I am making it through each day with twins and a 16 months old. (Nothin like tooting my own horn eh?) I'm not saying I'm perfect, not saying the house is clean and meals are cooked (my poor hubby!)I'm just amazed that I am still here in one piece and so is everyone else. ;) Some lady at the store yesterday asked me how I could be so happy with 2 newborns and I told her COFFEE LOL!!! Today Maddy went to daycare and so I went out shopping to a store other than superstore and walmart and ran into a lady who had 5 year old twins. It's funny how you can feel a kinship and just start chatting with a stranger. It was nice to hear some of her perspective on twins and getting through the first few months. She said that someone once told her that the days seem to go by slowly but the months fly by and that is so true!

Maddy is getting funnier each day if that is possible. Yesterday I caught her putting her cup on the endtable but not before putting a coaster down first, LOL! It was intentional too, guess they really do watch us. :)

Yesterday when Kelsey came home she asked me if there was a reason that there was a bunch of toilet paper and a sucky in the tub...hmmmm...oh yeah Maddy was playing in the bathroom with me while I was getting ready in the morning and that must have been her handiwork LOL! Ohhh our little girl, she keeps us in stitches for sure! I LOVE this age of hers, full of giggles and laughter for everyone. :) She is also obsessed with puppies, she will wake up and play in her crib and almost every single word she says is puppies, puppies, puppies it's pretty cute!

We are exhausted and busy but oh so blessed!

Maddy took her first steps!

So yesterday was the day, Maddy finally took her first steps. Three to be exact. Maddy has been standing a lot lately and has really been practicing standing by herself in the middle of the room. Well yesterday she was standing for a minute or so, she was distracted by watching a tv show and she took 3 wobbly steps to her sister! NO WAY!!! Try as we might she hasn’t taken anymore but she will… one day LOL! Here’s to hoping she does it again soon.

And with that I’m off again, babies are crying and need to be fed. But I couldn’t let any more time pass  before sharing and recording this milestone!!!

Videos :)

Well I figure I will try uploading a few videos quickly. Because my hubby is so dang awesome (I know you read this so what else would I call you…LOL! Just kidding hun you’re the best!) he got us…ok me heehee a Sony Snap Camera for uploading videos of the kids online.

He got this before the twins were born so that we could take it to the hospital with us as it’s a camcorder and a camera and that meant way less (and big and cumbersome) stuff to lug with us. :) I am so happy he managed to get some footage of each babe after they were born since I didn’t get to see them until later. So even though it’s just a few seconds each here is Jackson and Jaelyn after they were born. :)

Oh and here’s something I don’t want to relive but I thought it might be good for some laughs…the last picture of me pregnant with the twins on August 27th, about a week before they made their arrival. My friend took it and asked me to stand by my van…you know, as a size comparison! THANKS A LOT!!! LOL, I was huge though. :) SO glad to have a normal body back.

More pics soon, I promise! Gotta run!!

Time for an update :)

We’re still here alive and kickin heehee. Life is pretty busy and this past week was my first with all 3 little ones alone so not much else besides taking care of kids got done. We are settling into a groove now though.  I cannot believe that the twins will be 6 weeks on Wednesday, how time flies by!!!  Speaking of the twins, we got their pictures taken today and I am sure they will be awesome!!! The photographer was awesome and soooo patient and it went really really well. As usual mr. man did better than miss Jae but he is just naturally more laid back than she is. She can’t help her diva attitude heehee. ;)  Nah she did well too and when they were put together she really did well. It should be about 3 to 4 weeks before we get our pics but the photographer should post a sneak peek on her blog soon so I will link to that once it’s up. I cannot wait!

In other twin news mr. man had his first episode of projectile vomiting last Thursday. A friend was over visiting and we hear splat…wth? No way, I’ve never had a baby do that before and he did it again tonight, all you hear is the tell-tale splat as it hits the kitchen floor. I hope it’s just a once in a while thing but then again he is my mr spit up like Maddy was. ;)

Speaking of Maddy she has been standing up by herself in the middle of the room lately, not using anything to do it either. We all clap like crazy and say Yay Madison and she claps and smiles too with her oh so proud look on her face! What a joy she is! So this may mean walking is coming soon, then mommy will be in for it I’m sure!

This weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada and do we ever have a lot to be thankful for.  All of our little ones (and not so little ones) are so special and I couldn’t be more thankful for them and the rest of my family! Life is good…crazy and chaotic and busy and tiring but good! :)

4 1/2 weeks

Wow can the twins really be almost 5 weeks? Holy cow that has gone by fast! Today marks my first day at home alone with all 3 little ones and so far so good. The twins are a bit fussy today as they both seem to have a touch of a cold but thankfully it doesn’t seem too bad. What’s the latest? Not much, just trying to make it through each day.

The twins are somewhat showing signs of a schedule. Their last feed is usually around 10 to 11:30 and that ends up being bedtime so that’s much better than the 1 or 3 or 6 am that they were doing.  ;) That last feed is also a formula feed as they are usually quite happy after a bottle, can you say milk drunk?! LOL!  And they usually sleep around 5 hours or so til the next feed so having 5 hours in a row is quite nice!!! Now that I am alone at home we are planning to do a lot more formula, I need to be able to tend to Maddy and spend quality time with her and take care of her so that is the reality of things with twins and a 15 month old but hey so far this morning we managed breakfast for Maddy and nursing for the twins morning feed so that’s good! :) I figure the lunch feed will be a bottle and by the next feed big sis Kelsey will be home to help with Mads so I think I will nurse again. I really want to make sure they still get some b.milk especially since they are a bit sick right now. I still plan to nurse at night as long as my milk holds out.

I have to say that I do feel somewhat guilty and hesitant on actually pulling the trigger on more bottle feedings but we still managed to get 4 1/2 solid weeks of nursing into them and that to me is success, it’s just that pesky nagging mommy guilt that I have to learn to deal with. ;)

So far having twins is not too bad, it is coming with a lot of exhaustion in this house but at least hubby and I haven’t pulled our hair out yet (although we’ve come close LOL). I’m am sure there will be days where I will but so far we are doing quite well handling all that comes our way (if I do say so myself!). So I have to say thank you to everyone who has helped us make it this far! My parents who all came to stay with us and help us with cooking and baby holding and babysitting! My in laws for watching the kids while I was in the hospital and for cooking and bringing meals! My friends for meals and visits too and everyone who has helped so far, it is MUCH appreciated and has truly helped us get to where we are today!

I am still working on photos and will hopefully have some to share soon, I am a BIT busy these days so I have to just try and squeeze in some time to upload them and tweak them here and there. But soon we will have some professional pics of the twins and that is exciting too. Next Monday we are getting them done so I can’t wait!!

Ok well I better run, kids need to be hugged loved and generally tended to heehee. Be back soon…hopefully!!!
