Ashley Furniture SUCKS!!!!!

I hope everyone who reads this will stay away form that awful store, I wish we had! :(

It's a long story but I'll try and keep it somewhat simple. Our couch and loveseat are in pretty bad shape, the couch is ripped (it's leather and 6 years old) in so many places it's just getting ridiculous. So my dear hubby sacrificed a TON and we were on the hunt for new furniture (you probably saw all about that in my earlier posts). We finally settled on a set from Ashley Furniture and were so excited about our new furniture.

Well when they showed up for delivery the driver tells me that the couch is damaged, uhhhhhh what? I totally thought he was kidding so I stood there and waited for the punchline until I realized he wasn't kidding! WTH?

He said that the warehouse in Calgary had told him about a patch on the back of the couch, I asked him why they would even put it on the truck knowing it was damaged and he said they just told me to go ahead and load it. After discussing this with him I decided to take the loveseat and refuse the damaged couch. So they went to the truck to get the loveseat, they were gone too long and came back with more bad news, the loveseat was damaged worse than the couch. So I went out to the truck to have a look at both pieces.

Sure enough the couch had 2 spots that looked all mottled and a few scratches on the back. The loveseat was in bad shape too, there were nail heads sticking out into the leather, you could see the nail head under the leather and when you ran your hand along the back the ones you couldn't see, you could definitely feel! So it was just a matter of time before they completely poked through the leather not to mention the leather was all stretched out over the nail heads!!! Wow how could they have sent me this KNOWING FULL WELL IT WAS DAMAGED?! The delivery driver admitted such, and said this is a typical problem he is having. In fact the delivery before ours was refused due to damages too! (Of course everyone else at the company denies this, stinkin liars!)

Well if that's not bad enough here is the kicker: Ashley does not want to reorder the furniture for us, they have "technicians" who repair these items and then they will come back to us at showroom quality. UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT?! I didn't pay for re-furbished!!! That's why furniture stores have a scratch and ding area, a clearance area, an as-is area. That's how places like XS Cargo and Liquidation World get their merchandise THAT IS NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR! So after fighting for a while hubby and I decide to just get our money back and go to a more reputable furniture store in town............uhhhhh ASHLEY DOES NOT OFFER RETURNS OF ANY KIND!!!!!!!!!! WHAT?!!!! Sooo not only did we pay for damaged furniture, which we do not even have in our possession but we also have no right to get new furniture for the full price we paid but we get refurbished and fixed junk for brand new price and we just have to take it!!!! We both fought with them for hours and hours and got the same crappy responses, a total script from Ashley, "our technicians are good that's why we employ them, blah blah blah, it IS new, blah blah blah, yes I would take damaged furniture myself, blah blah blah, there's nothing more I can do, blah blah blah" And they won't even take any money off for all of this hassle either! They have the WORST customer service! When hubby called the salesman he said I'm just the salesman and basically hung up after that. The store Manager was really no help either. We were told that all of this was in our contract and that we should have read it. Cuz yeah we expected to be totally screwed by these people and we had time with the high pressure sales etc to read, whatever! What a CROCK!

Anyway, we are really upset over this and have vowed to tell everyone we know to NOT shop at ASHLEY FURNITURE! They stick to their crappy policies which again are:

- If your furniture is damaged when it arrives they will get one of their technicians to look at it and repair it and it will then be shipped back to you (So in other words you get used/re-furbished furniture for top notch prices.)

- Ashley does not accept returns/refunds (So when the above happens you have no rights and you certainly cannot get your money back to get what you feel you paid for which is NEW FURNITURE and nothing LESS!)

So PLEASE BOYCOTT ASHLEY FURNITURE and their policies!!! They deserve to be run out of town for the crappy customer service, lies and the blatant passing off of damaged/re-furbished furniture as new!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

She claps and it's sooo dang cute!

So after reading that a friend of mine's son who is about the same age as Maddy likes to watch mom clap I started doing that for Maddy. She really liked it, she would grab my thumb in each hand as I clapped too.

Well last week all of a sudden our little girl got this proud little look on her face and started to clap on her own!! It is SOOO CUTE!!! Another night last week we were all sitting in the living room playing and she started clapping and of course looking sooo proud of herself as always happens when she claps, and we were all so excited and happy that we would clap and giggle and yell yay when she clapped and so she would giggle and clap some more and it was a vicious circle, it was adorable!!!! Of course I ran for the video camera but argh the battery was dead, but she is starting to do it more often so hopefully I will catch her soon! And today Daddy turned the TV to Bob the Builder and she got all excited and started clapping  all on her own, I guess she thought Bob the Builder was pretty cool, at least for a few minutes.

I just love these little milestones. I think blowing kisses is something we are going to start doing/working on. :)

Talk about Mommy Brain

So I was in the Starbucks drive-thru yesterday (LOL yes I know I am addicted!) when I looked at my license while I was waiting with my wallet open to pay. Since I never go to bars and don't buy anything needing id I guess I, nor anyone else for that matter, ever look at it. Well it expired in April of 2008!!!!! Almost a whole year ago ROFLMBO!!! I was so nervous when I saw that that I would have to retake all the tests and stuff but thankfully you can have an expired license for 3 years before you have to do that, whew! Talk about major mommy brain! Hubby was soooooo not surprised when I told him LOL! And a new thing here, about 6 months ago they decided to change the rules and NOT let you smile in your picture so my new picture is horrid!!! Oh well, apparently it never gets looked at anyway LOL!

I got a phone call yesterday and apparently our furniture will be arriving even sooner than expected, this Thursday to be exact!!! YAYAYAYAYAY YIPPEEEEE!!! Can you tell I am excited? Heehee. Thanks to my wonderful hubby who sacrificed a lot for us to get this new furniture, you're a wonderful man and a perfect husband! Mwuah!

That's about it from our neck of the woods for now. :) Maybe I'll have a nice drive in our nice weather later since I am now legal again ROFLMBO!!!!! ;)

Catching Up

Well here I go again not blogging often enough, I'm so bad at that lately it seems. Not much new around here. Maddy is sleeping really well in her crib and I couldn't be more proud of her! She usually sleeps right through from 8:30 until about 5 or so and then wants a bottle and then goes back to sleep until about 8. The only thing is that now she has decided that she doesn't want to have another bottle again when she wakes up for a while. I wait (and since she usually only goes 3 hours during the day between bottles) at 4 hours I try again and she still won't drink the darn thing, what a stubborn little diva I tell you LOL! That's our girl. ;)

The basement is sooo close to being finished, just the finishing touches (minus the bathroom that won't be done for a while) so since our furniture upstairs is dying a long drawn out death we decided to go  and look for some new stuff, while the upstairs stuff will then go downstairs. We looked everywhere and finally settled on a brown leather (with 2 pugs it has 2 be leather!) reclining sofa and loveseat from Ashley Furniture. They had the best deal and the softest furniture. All the reclining stuff at the Brick was hard as rocks! So I am very excited and it will be here March 14th YIPPEE!!! Nothing like new furniture to brighten a day. Wanna see it? It's nothing special, it really just looks like a brown leather couch but hey I can't go picture-less in this post now can I?! ROFL!

Ican't WAIT to recline........ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Not much else new here really. It's all the same. Maddy is doing great, growing and being a little cutie and Kelsey's growing too and well acting like too much of a teenager for our tastes already but I think it's the times we live in, they just grow up so fast now. (Man I sound OLD heehee!)

Oh did I forget to tell you that I am going to my FIRST movie since having Maddy?! I am SO EXCITED!!! Unfortunately I can't go with hubby, someone has to watch Maddy LOL but a few of my girlfriends and I are going to see "He's just not that into you" tonight and I am so excited! I am sooo going to chow down on some nasty nachos and $7 pop too! ROFLMBO!!! I better take advantage of it now! ;)

I also found a great dayhome lady that came highly recommended by my aforementioned friends and Maddy will start going there soon when I go back to work. I hate having to go back but it will all work out in the end. I am sure Maddy will have a hard time at first but here's to hoping this gives her a bit of needed independence from mommy as she won't even let me out of arms reach.

Well I better go and do something productive with the rest of Maddy's nap time today. Hopefully I can start being a better blogger soon! ;)
