I wrote this post about 2 weeks ago and before I posted it I decided that I just had to makeover my blog, don't ask me why. But if you read my blog and remember the whole issue I have with buying baby bedding, well maybe then you'll understand that sometimes I just think I have to do things and well that's what has to be done before I can move on haha. So enjoy this old/new update haha!
Well one of my friends kindly pointed out that it has been way to long since I blogged so here I go. I guess I will just jump right on in so who knows where this post may take me.
One of the biggest things that has happened lately is that we moved! Yup somehow in between raising 4 kids we found the time to list and show our house, pack up and move and unpack! (Don’t let that last word fool you heehee we are not close to being fully unpacked but right now we have done as much as we can. (Its been just a little over a month.) The new house is great, is is 2,010 square feet (vs our old one at 1640 where a lot of that came from our huge master bedroom) and the living room is so nice and big. The only drawback is that the kitchen is smaller which has been hard to adjust to but our last kitchen was unusually big so its honestly not too bad.
The person who bought the house before us must have caught it at framing stage because although the house was intended to be a 4 bedroom up, they decided to not put in one wall and extend the master bedroom making it a three up. Since we were looking for a 4 bedroom up specifically we decided to renovate and turn the big master back into 2 rooms so the three little ones could all have their own rooms. This process was kind of a pain in the butt but its all done now except for flooring, we are trying to match the carpet in that new room as best as we can to the old stuff. This new room will be jackson’s. There is also a nice big bedroom in the basement with its own ensuite and that is Kelsey’s room, talk about lucky girl!!
The street seems really nice and quiet and we are just a street over from a great park and we are just a few minutes away from all shopping too so it’s very convenient. (It’s also close to my friend Super-N so that’s a plus heehee.)
Our little Maddy is growing like a weed but is still nonetheless afraid of everything in sight. I am loving her little sentences she seems to be stringing together with ease and the cute way she is trying to start to sing now! Her tantrums are also out of this world but hey, she’s 2 now so what can you expect eh? Heehee! Her favorite outside activity…blowing bubbles and now that dad has taken the big scary door off her cute playhouse she is happy to be back playing in there too. She’s even ringing the doorbell she was previously afraid of thanks to her friend Sarah!
Jackson and Jae are growing for sure! Jae was 18 pounds 10 ounces about 2 weeks ago and Jackson was an even 18. These little guys are such cuties but are no shortage of work for their momma and dad! Jackson has been very very sick twice so far this year, once at easter and the next time right before may long weekend (right before our big move ugh!). The first time it was vomiting for a week, nothing stayed down and he ended up admitted to the hospital for 2 days for iv fluids. :( This was so hard and to compound things we were put in isolation so it was a rough stay. The nurses were adamant that he smelled like a rota virus baby and when we were discharged we were led to believe that is what he had (even though they said the test results weren’t written in his charts). After mother’s day maddy started vomiting which lasted for about a week of sickness for her too and yup you guessed it jackson got it next. This time it was eerily similar except he had a fever too. we took him to the ER twice and found out that although it wasn’t rota last time it was this time. So needless to say everytime he vomits we look at eachother and cringe thinking here we go again! Hopefully he is out of the woods for this season and next year he is 1st in line for the flu shot!!! Oh and after all the sleeping issues we had with him (ie screaming himself to sleep) we started him on zantac for reflux and it stopped after only a few days and he falls asleep as normally as babies do now. ;)
Jae oddly enough never actually got sick either of those times, she only finished about half of her bottles and was quieter than normal but otherwise she seemed ok. BUT she has issues all her own. This little chubby bunny still won’t/can’t eat solids yet at 10 months!! She seems to have a reaction to rice and oats which sounds a lot like FPIES to me since it is not a usual allergic reaction. We started seeing a pediatrician and had rast testing (a type of allergy testing) done only to have the results come back negative (although the doc said it might just not show up). This in itself was a huge undertaking as Jae is quite chubby no one could draw blood from her. We tried on 2 occasions and ended up having to meet the ped at the hospital to get an arterial draw done. Poor baby girl!!! Her arms were black and blue for a month! The ped has never heard of FPIES so he really hasn’t listened to me in that area yet although her symptoms fit it to a T, but he did hear of another condition called Eosinophilic Esophagitis which to me seems actually scarier than FPIES so I am hoping that is not what it is but at this point it would be nice to just know. So tomorrow we have a barium swallow for my little babe, if it is EE they can sometimes see rings in the esophagus which can lead them to further testing. I am worried she won’t drink the barium (afterall why would she since she won’t eat anything other than drink her formula) and they will end up having to give it to her via a feeding tube but we will just have to wait and see. (Update on this: her barium swallow went fine, no issues with her esophagus so now we are back to square one with her.)
Jae also has other issues, despite the fact that she should be able to eat other things than rice and oats etc (meaning she doesn’t present any reaction to some other foods) she simply will not take them. She clams right up when she sees the spoon and if you do happen to get any food in her she will gag and wretch and end up vomiting. So this little girl is just giving us a run for our money food wise. We also have an appointment for an occupational therapist in feeding next week to see if this area could be due to texture/sensory issues. (Update on this: what I thought was a feeding appointment actually was only a dietician, yeah many joys on finding that out, pretty much a waste of time.)
Well I think that is enough for now, phew I am tired just typing at all out. So do I get a pass on blogging now that you know all of what we have been dealing with for the past few months? Hahahahaha! I hope to start blogging more regularly soon.
